Simon in crib

Witness Simon's ever-present gaze. It's amazing how he follows your every move sometimes. He'll look at you like, "hmmm.... very interesting..." He's never camera-shy in terms of looking at the camera, but as for smiling at the camera, that's another thing. It's funny, whenever I get the camera out, he starts staring at it with a very placid, fascinated-but-not-excited look. 

Simon's hair & eye color

In case you're wondering, there is really no new news on Simon's hair and eye color--we really still don't know what color they'll end up being. In different lights, Simon's hair can look brown, red, or sandy blond. His eyes are mostly still blue, but there are dabs of color in the middle, and sometimes they look green. Stay tuned, I guess(?)

Simon at the zoo

Simon is chewing on something again, and his buddy over there is not amused. Laura and Simon went to the zoo, as you can see, with some other people and Simon chewed on his stroller since it was the easiest thing to find.

Chomp!

Simon likes to eat his crib, too. Grandma says he's going to be a climber. I don't know what gives her that impression... Another common occurrence: two pacifiers were under the crib at this point, since he threw them there as he often does. 

Simon with Grandma Haupt

I can't keep up with my mom's blog at all! She is throwing pictures up there with ferocious speed. She looks great with Simon here in this picture from their house. I wonder if he was eyeing her reading glasses, thinking about taking a swipe at them? He sure likes to grab those things! 

Frog eater

I like to eat frogs, says Simon. At least, little green plastic ones.

Pine Lake State Park

This is a photo from Pine Lake State Park in Hardin County, Iowa. It was really pretty in late August. Simon had a great time! (Except when he screamed). You can take a trail from one lake to the other and it's paved, which is sweet and also pretty important when you have a stroller. Awesome!
